A major airline, headquartered in Chicago at wills tower, United Airlines has been in operation for over nine decades now. It is the third-largest airline in the world if we go by its number of routes and fleet size. In total it can fly you to over 340 destinations across the US and six continents. The airline is often well-reviewed for its great customer service and hassle-free check-in and boarding.
If you are planning to travel with your pet to one of the 340 odd destinations United Airlines can fly you to, there are a few guidelines you need to know before you take flight with your furry friends.
Here are a few requirements for In-Cabin Pets (domesticated cats and dogs that can fit in a travel carrier underneath the flight seat):
The minimum age requirement for kittens and puppies is 2 months. For international flights, it is 4 months.
Your pets won’t be allowed to travel with minors who are unaccompanied minors.
If the pet is of a larger size (can’t fit in a kennel), then it will have to fly with United Airlines’ Pet Safe Program.
An extra ticket is required for an additional pet, which will cost another $125 both ways.
Passenger and pet must travel on the same flights and the passenger is expected to take full responsibility for their pet(s).
Talking about the documents required:
A copy of the customer acknowledgment form (scanned) is required. It should be signed and dated.
A scanned copy of your pet’s health certificate (signed by a veterinarian).
To verify the breed, the airlines will require a digital photo of your pet.
A digital photo of your pet’s crate to help the airline check if it meets the crate requirements.
It should be noted that the size of each of the documents shouldn’t exceed 5MB.
